What is the Strat Filter?
In the Strat Filter you can create custom parent-child filters between different stratigraphic, and other data types.
You can select a ‘parent' stratigraphic unit (eg a Group) and then toggle through various ‘child’ data types. On the map you will see which 'child’ zones are present inside the parents top and base.
Child zones are drawn on the map as bars, displaying the top-to-base order in which they appear in the wellbore. The bars are annotated with unit name and thickness in MD.
How to use the Strat Filter
The Strat Filter is located in the Windows tab in the top ribbon.
The Strat Filter Window
Creating a basic filter
A basic filter will visualise on MapView the presence and thickness of a chosen stratigraphic zone.
1) Select a chosen unit from the drop-down boxes.
2) In the Display drop-down, select the same data type that your chosen zone belongs to
The example below shows FANGST Group, with Groups selected in the Display drop-down.
To the right is a list of all wellbores returned by our basic filter.
On MapView, you will see the results of your filter visualized as bars, annotated with zone name and thickness (MD)
The bars are dynamically sized based on the range of thicknesses returned by the filter.
Wellbores which return a negative result are greyed-out.
Creating a Parent-Child Filter
Creating a Parent-Child Filter will allow you to visualize a data type (eg 3rd ord sequences) present inside a stratigraphic zone of interest (eg GARN formation).
Select a chosen Parent zone from the drop-down boxes.
In the Display drop-down, select a Child data type you wish to filter
In Display Filter Range choose All Zones, Upper or Lower
The example below shows the filter result of Garn combined with 3rd Order Sequences.
You can view other child combinations by simply selecting another data type in the Display drop-down, and conversely you can select another Parent while keeping your child filter.
