How to create a presentation

This article will cover the presentation module in Glex, how to create one, edit it and present using it.

 Instructions

A presentation in Glex relies very little on text and more on the visualization of data and maps. As such, the presentation module allows you to save the layout of your current Glex window with all the opened windows/filter states/active layers/etc. By clicking through the slides, you show the data inside the program. If you are interrupted by a question like “what would happen if you use Mn/Al as a sand marker instead of Si/Al?” you can edit the graph live instead of speculating.

The presentation menu opens by clicking the presentation icon in the top right.

The presentation menu

Opening this menu gives a couple of additional options:

  • Create a new presentation

  • Browse existing presentations

  • Import a presentation

Rename the opened presentation

New slides will automatically save location data zooming to that location when activated. It is also possible to save additional data for specific slides, like the active filters, layers and UI elements (for example info panels). The additional data can be turned on or off using the attachment option of the slide.

In case you wish to add a custom slide it is also possible to upload an image as a slide. The entire slide will turn into that image and will be opened fullscreen when you open it as part of your presentation.

When you wish to present you can lock the presentation in order to disable the possibility of opening or editing the slide, simply press the little lock icon in the top right. When locked you can navigate the slides using your arrow keys, or by using the presentation player found under Widgets.

If you instead wish to export the presentation for offline use, you can go back to the “view presentations” menu and select the export function. Here you can also share your presentation using the share

Note that presentations are already available to everyone inside your company, and no sharing is necessary between coworkers
